The new ministry of Tourism from Barbados came to Brazil to show the beauties of the island

In April of this year, Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI) participated in the World Travel Market (WTM) Latin America in Brazil with a delegation led by the Minister of Tourism and International Transport, Ian Gooding-Edghill; the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and International Transport, Francine Blackman; Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI) Director Shelly Williams; the Sports Director for Latin America and the Caribbean for BTMI, Corey Garrett, and the Ambassador of Barbados to Brazil, Tonika Sealy-Thompson.

All the support and organization of events at WTM and the dinner for the trade at Fasano as well as the meetings with the local press were handled by GrupoCASA. “Latin American travellers will find that Barbados is an authentic Caribbean experience where they can enjoy luxury experiences, eco-tourism, adventure, over 400 restaurants, and over 50 white sand beaches throughout the island,” said Corey Garrett , Director of Sports in Latin America and the Caribbean at BTMI. “This year we will also be highlighting Rihanna Drive, the street on which our global superstar grew up, a title that no other tourist destination can call their own. We want to show Brazilian travelers that we are a dynamic destination, full of events, sports and a huge variety of unique experiences.”

The new minister added that Latin America is a critically important market for the growth of Barbados’ tourism industry and that they are excited to see this relationship expand during 2023 and beyond.

Barbados continues to see an increase in passenger arrivals from Brazil and Latin America, and expects to continue this growth as it begins to receive more visitors through the direct flight services offered by Copa Airlines
